Myanmar(Burma) has lost numerous treasures during colonial rule, from unrecoverable petroleum mines and burned-up historical records, to Dhamazedi Bell, the largest bell on earth. Loss was tremendous. The number was uncountable.
The great Dhamazedi Bell weighs about 200 metric tons, about 20 tons heavier than today's largest bell, the Tsar Bell-III, in Moscow. It sank and laying 25 feet under the mud in Dawpone River, Myanmar.
Hope Diamond, the largest blue diamond on earth, is now in Smithsonian Museum, USA. It was believed to have a spell, killing owners of which with unnatural deaths. Several people have written books about the mysterious history of the Hope Diamond, that the diamond originated from India, sold to King Louis-16 of France, then transfer hands to Mrs.McCleen of Washington Post, who finally donated to Smithsonian Museum after the death of her family. According to one Myanmar archealogist's writings, this great diamond was removed and stolen from the forehead of a Buddha image donated by King Kyansitthar of Bagan (AD 1064-1113). However no certain confirmation was made yet.
Ngamouk Ruby (Padamyar Ngamouk) was one of them. It was the best of the best rubies owned by the Burmese royal family for centuries, and the ownership of which continues to be a mystery. Precious-stone-lovers know that the finest rubies exclusively come from Mogok, Myanmar. Some gemologists calculates that Ngamouk Ruby might worth no less than 50 million dollars today! But where on earth is it?
